Swell
Now, at last
the swollen sky splits
open. A quick flash, then
the cracking of bone on bone.
If you ask me, I will deny wanting
more than the sky can give. If you ask me,
I will put the moon in my mouth and suck
and suck until my lips pucker rosebud-tight.
When did it get so hard to separate love from loss?
As if the ache of absence were stored in my cells like
a violet blossom pressed between the pages of a book.
