The Mountain Goats
The mountain goats in Amy’s throat
clattered down the shale on a Utah slope
last week & we believe her.
Yours truly just smacked a trash bee
cruising for sweet. Born too soon,
Aristotle had wisdom Byzantine
churchmen chose not to forsake.
The Cooper’s hawk who knows
we won’t object tugs the eyeballs
from a water rat disdained
by the dozing spaniel. It’s June.
