Give Ten: The Brigid Alliance

In response to increasing attacks on reproductive health care in the U.S., we have decided to dedicate this year’s Give Ten donations to The Brigid Alliance. The Brigid Alliance arranges and funds confidential, personalized travel support to those seeking abortion care in increasingly hostile environments.

Ten percent of all sales will be directed to The Brigid Alliance. Instead of a one-month donation drive, we will continue this donation from May 1 through the end of this year. Please consider donating to this cause.

  • Final update: Since May 1, you have made it possible for us to donate $340 for The Brigid Alliance. Thank you for supporting our poets and for helping poetry support reproductive health care!

Help support Small Press Distribution by buying chapbooks (it’s a win-win)

This week, when we saw the call for funds to support Small Press Distribution (SPD), it was easy to jump into action mode: we immediately pledged 100% of our sales–through this Saturday, 4/25–to this GoFundMe fundraiser:

https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-small-press-distribution-survive

Thanks to our dear readers and supporters, we (you!) have already raised just over $150 in support of SPD.

You get the chapbooks you want (check out our Pair-ups for great limited-run deals) and together we help support small presses. Win-win. Thank you so much!

update, 4/26/2020: Together we raised $225 for this fundraiser, not counting the folks who let us know they’d made direct contributions to SPD. Readers rock! Thank you all so much.

25 x 25 Fundraiser: Doubling Down for Skull + Wind Press

If you’re following us on Facebook, you know we’re doing a special 25 x 25 fundraiser for Skull + Wind Press–for every chapbook we sell through May 25, we’re donating 25% to this new press launched by Trevor Ketner, one of our authors.

Today, we’re doubling down: We will donate all funds from every copy we sell of Trevor’s chapbook, Negative of a Photo of Fire, to Skull + Wind Press.

Please join us with your support!

updates:

  • 25 x 25 tally as of May 25: $71.28 — Thank you for helping us raise these funds for Skull + Wind!
  • double-down tally as of May 25: $123.52 — This tally will update through the print run of Trevor’s chapbook. Thanks so much for helping to donate to a groundbreaking new press!

Give Ten

You may know that, as of last November 8, I dedicated 10% of all Seven Kitchens Press sales to be donated back to a worthwhile cause. Our first recipients were the Trevor Project, Planned Parenthood and the ACLU. Most recently, donations have been in the form of needed supplies for other small and micro presses. In the wake of Hurricane Harvey, we will be donating ten percent of all sales received in the months of September and October to the Houston Food Bank.

Please do what you can, in any way you can, to reach out to folks in need.

Update: As of September 18, the amount set aside for the Houston Food Bank is $29.58 and counting. Thank you all.
