Since launching the Summer Kitchen Series back in 2010, I’ve always hand-picked the featured titles from manuscripts that didn’t quite make it into our other series. This year, just to shake things up, we’re going to open up to direct submissions for this series. And we’re doing it right now.
Now through February 28, you can send your chapbook manuscript to be considered for the 2019 Summer Kitchen Series. At least three titles may be selected, and the chapbooks will appear this summer in our limited-edition series: 49 copies are printed, the poets get 25, and the press offers up the rest to our eager fans.
Summer Kitchen titles, unlike the rest of our catalog, do not receive ISBNs and the print run does not exceed 49 copies: when they’re gone, they’re gone.
Titles in this series feature covers designed from vintage and antique fabrics; here is a mock-up of one cover we expect to produce this year:
How do I send my manuscript? you ask. It’s easy. Just email your doc file to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line Summer Kitchen Series. You can check out full guidelines here. And remember: this window closes at midnight on February 28–so send us your work now!
What better way to launch August than with five new chapbooks? Our hot, limited-edition Summer Kitchen Series drops today, with fresh titles by Jill McCabe Johnson, Alyse Bensel, Beverly Voigt, Scott Honeycutt, and Jacob Budenz. Please join us in welcoming these poets to Seven Kitchens Press.
For the sixth volume of our hot, limited-edition Summer Kitchen Series, we’re proud to announce the following selections, slated for publication (if we can keep up this pretty crazy production schedule) this July:
- Jill McCabe Johnson, Pendulum
- Alyse Bensel, Lies to Tell the Body
- Beverly Voigt, Woman of Salt
- Scott Honeycutt, Twelve Miles North of the Ohio River
- Jacob Budenz, Pastel Witcheries
Please join us in congratulating these poets!
We round out this year’s Summer Kitchen Series with Hopewell Bay, a long poem by Cynthia Neely. Only 24 copies will be sold by the press; the author gets the other 25. Please welcome Cynthia to the Seven Kitchens family and show some love by ordering a copy of her new chapbook!
We are closing out August with the remaining three titles in our limited-edition Summer Kitchen Series. Announcing Number 3 in this year’s series, Dead Letter Office at North Atlantic Station by Steve Bellin-Oka. Only 24 copies will be sold by the press; the author gets the other 25.
Order yours here!
