Robin Becker Series: We are very open

We are very excited to announce that Steve Bellin-Oka has taken the wheel as editor of the Robin Becker Chapbook Series, which opens for your wonderful queer manuscripts tomorrow, April 1, through May 15. Send us your darlings, darlings. Make us swoon. Full guidelines are here.

Summer Kitchen Series–we’re opening the window on February 1

Once again, we will open the submission window for our Summer Kitchen Series from February 1 through February 14. From these manuscripts, we will select up to two titles for this year’s series, to be pubished (when else?) this coming summer. Full guidelines can be found here. We look forward to reading your work!

Last call for Keystone Chapbook manuscripts

It’s our last call roundup for the Keystone Chapbook Series by poets with a Pennsylvania connection. Our first and oldest series was launched in 2007 with the publication of Underground Singing by Harry Humes. Series editors Steve Bellin-Oka and Ron Mohring are especially looking for work by marginalized voices. The annual reading period runs June 1 through July 15. Full guidelines are here.

Keystone Chapbook Series is now open

We are now reading manuscripts for the Keystone Chapbook Series. Seven Kitchens Press began in 2007 with our first chapbooks in the Keystone Series, Underground Singing by Harry Humes and Still by Deborah Burnham. There are now 21 titles in the series, celebrating poets with a Pennsylvania connection. Will yours be next?

Full guidelines are here.

Reminder: The Robin Becker Chapbook Series is now open

Queer Open Window: We are now reading for the Robin Becker Chapbook Series

It’s April. You’ve got poems, and we want to read them! Now considering manuscripts for the annual Robin Becker Chapbook Series, seeking to publish the very best poetry by LGBTQ+ writers. We are working harder than ever to reach out to underrepresented poets and invite them to submit their writing. Full guidelines here: https://sevenkitchenspress.com/series-guidelines/guidelines-the-robin-becker-chapbook-prize/

The Summer Kitchen Series 2-week window is (very) open!

Let’s throw open the reading window for this year’s Summer Kitchen Series! You have two weeks–from now through February 14–to send in your chapbook manuscripts. We will select two manuscripts for inclusion in this year’s series, published this summer (hence the name).

What? That’s it! Guidelines are linked above. Dazzle us!

Last day for Keystone Chapbook manuscripts

July 15 is the last day to send in your manuscript for the Keystone Chapbook Series (for Pennsylvania poets, however you wish to define that term). Don’t miss your chance to join this gallery of amazing poets!

Pop-up submission window: The Summer Kitchen Series: Feb 16-28

Since launching the Summer Kitchen Series back in 2010, I’ve always hand-picked the featured titles from manuscripts that didn’t quite make it into our other series. This year, just to shake things up, we’re going to open up to direct submissions for this series. And we’re doing it right now.

Now through February 28, you can send your chapbook manuscript to be considered for the 2019 Summer Kitchen Series. At least three titles may be selected, and the chapbooks will appear this summer in our limited-edition series: 49 copies are printed, the poets get 25, and the press offers up the rest to our eager fans.

Summer Kitchen titles, unlike the rest of our catalog, do not receive ISBNs and the print run does not exceed 49 copies: when they’re gone, they’re gone.

Titles in this series feature covers designed from vintage and antique fabrics; here is a mock-up of one cover we expect to produce this year:

How do I send my manuscript? you ask. It’s easy. Just email your doc file to sevenkitchenspress@gmail.com with the subject line Summer Kitchen Series. You can check out full guidelines here. And remember: this window closes at midnight on February 28–so send us your work now!

ReBound Series opens February 1

We will accept manuscripts for the Spring ReBound Series from February 1 through March 15. If you know of an out-of-print chapbook that deserves a fresh, new edition, please check out our guidelines.
