We are (very) open: if you’re a poet with Pennsylvania connections, please send your manuscript to the Keystone Chapbook Series, our longest-running imprint. Co-editors Steve Bellin-Oka and Ron Mohring are looking forward to reading your work. We’ll consider chapbook manuscripts through July 15. Full guidelines are here.

June news & previews
We’re pretty stoked that the Seven Kitchens Giving Month June fundraising drive has generated such a great response–we’re three-quarters to our ISBN Fund Goal and it’s not even June yet! Thanks so much for your support.
June also means that we’ll be reading manuscripts for the Keystone Chapbook Series, for poets with a Pennsylvania connection. This is the series that launched Seven Kitchens Press back in 2007 with Harry Humes’ Underground Singing. The newest title, Erin Murphy’s Remorse Code, is out now, and two more titles are scheduled to drop this summer: Deborah Burnham’s Among the Other Dead and William Varner’s Leaving Erebus.
Finally, look for an announcement soon about our very new, and very queer, anthology series, co-edited by Terry Kirts. This project has been years in the planning, and we’re so excited to launch it this summer!
Celebrating our 100th chapbook: Erin Murphy | Remorse Code
Back in 2007, Seven Kitchens Press launched with a modest, hand-made chapbook: Harry Humes’ Underground Singing, selected by Jeff Mann for the inaugural Keystone Chapbook Prize. It’s a title that holds up well today, and we’re grateful to Harry for helping us lead off with such a memorable chapbook.
So it’s a huge thrill to release the 15th chapbook in the Keystone Series (and our 100th title!): Remorse Code, demi-sonnets by Erin Murphy. Thanks so much to Ellen McGrath Smith for selecting this title.
Keystone Chapbooks selected: Burnham, Varner
Please join us in congratulating Deborah Burnham and William Varner, whose manuscripts have been selected for the Keystone Chapbook Series!
Deborah’s previous chapbook, Still, was published as Number 2 in this series and we are delighted to publish more of her work. Her new chapbook, Among the Other Dead, will be Number 15 in the Keystone Series.
William Varner’s first chapbook, Leaving Erebus, will be Number 16 in the series. William grew up in York, PA, and now lives in Maine.
Both chapbooks will publish in summer of 2018.
Many thanks to this year’s judge, Marjorie Maddox, author of What She Was Saying (Fomite Press) and of the chapbook, Wives’ Tales (Seven Kitchens Press). And special thanks to Steve Bellin-Oka, who came aboard this year to serve as co-editor of this series.

Dear Readers:
Seven Kitchens Press is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as co-editor of the Keystone Chapbook Series. Must be ___________ and ____________________. If you know what the Keystone Chapbook Series is, send an e-mail to sevenkitchenspress at gmail dot com and tell me why you’d love to help develop and champion this series.)
We pay in chapbooks and abiding love. For independent literature.
I would love to hear from you.
Keystone Chapbook selection: Erin Murphy
Huge thanks to Ellen McGrath Smith for selecting Erin Murphy’s manuscript as the next title in our Keystone Chapbook Series. Erin’s chapbook, “Remorse Code,” is a series of demi-sonnets (a form she invented); her previous book of demi-sonnets, Word Problems, was released in 2010. “Remorse Code” will be published this fall.
Manuscripts are currently being considered for the 2017 Keystone Chapbook Series; full guidelines are available here.
